Amal is a 20-year-old Sudanese woman, living in White Nile State. After separating from her husband, she had reluctantly moved back to her family’s home. ACJPS has been reliably informed that she was interrogated by a police investigator who allegedly illegally obtained a confession from her. He did not inform Amal that the information she shared during her interrogation would be used as evidence against her during her trial. [2] Amal’s trial was also tainted with several irregularities. For example, her trial commenced without a formal complaint from the police in Kotsi. Amal was also denied legal representation at the trial phase The signatory organisations condemn the use of the death penalty in all cases. The Athens Polytechnic uprising occurred in Novemb The Athens Polytechnic uprising occurred in November 1973 as a massive student demonstration of popular rejection of the Greek military junta of 1967–1974. The uprising began on 14 November 1973, escalated to an open anti-junta revolt, and ended in bloodshed in the early morning of 17 November after a series of events starting with a tank crashing through the gates of the Polytechnic. Since 21 April 1967, Greece had been under the dictatorial rule of the military, a regime which abolished civil rights, dissolved political parties and exiled, imprisoned and tortured politicians and citizens based on their political beliefs. The campus is closed on the 15th (the day the students first occupied the campus on 1973). Students and politicians lay wreaths on a monument within the Polytechneio on which the names of Polytechneio students killed during the Greek Resistance in the 1940s are inscribed, while a catalog of victims by the 7 years junta is uttered. This man after a 12 hour shift had to work again after some hours. As employees remain on stand by and are called a few hours before the shift, depending on ships’ arrivals. This means that sometimes they do double shifts with a break of only a few hours and then return, tired to a challenging and dangerous job!
